Location: Temple Shalom, Newton, Massachusetts
Start Date: On or before July 1, 2025
Status: Full-Time, Flexible Hours (Sundays and Wednesdays and monthly Fridays required.)
About Temple Shalom:
Temple Shalom is a welcoming, inclusive Reform congregation serving 600+ families in Newton, Massachusetts. We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Learning and Engagement team to support a wide range of educational and adult programming.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Director of Learning and Engagement - Adult Education will support Temple Shalom's educational vision with a major focus on engaging our adult members through learning and engagement programs. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail oriented and have a passion for Jewish education, community engagement, and an ability to build relationships with congregants.

Key Responsibilities:
*Serve as the project manager for learning and engagement opportunities for adult members of the Temple Shalom community
*Project management includes but is not limited to: collaborating (with clergy, Director of Learning and Engagement and congregants), planning, organizing and promoting classes, gatherings, and scholars-in-residence weekends
*Support and attend community-wide events such as Scholars in Residence weekends, monthly Shabbat B’Yachad, High Holy Days, Chanukah celebrations, Purim Palooza, Congregational Seders, Yom Hashoah and Shavuot
*Work as part of the Learning & Engagement team to be present for events when needed, including classes, Shabbat dinners, etc.
*Build and nurture relationships with our adult congregants through relational engagement and in person gatherings
*Manage the Temple Shalom Learning and Engagement Calendar
*Partner with and support the clergy team, the L&E team, and lay-led committees to create and help implement a cohesive calendar for adult learning and gatherings inspired by the the cycle of the Jewish year

Additional Responsibilities:
*Support the Director of Learning and Engagement in the day to day oversight and management of the K-7 educational programs
*Collaborate with the Director of Membership and Development to support Fundraising and Donor Events

Skills & Qualifications:
*Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Experience with Google Suite, Canva, and Customer Relationship Management tools (ShulCloud)
*Detail-oriented, organized, and a team player
*Open-minded with a commitment to growth as a Jewish educator
*3-4 years of experience in teaching or leadership, professional experience in Jewish education, camping, Hillel campus or synagogue setting preferred
*Flexible and adaptable in a collaborative setting
*General knowledge of current Jewish adult education and programming trends
*Nice to have: communications and social media skillsets
